Scar Stories turns scars into empowering portraits for cancer survivors. The book features the organisation’s collection of beautiful, powerful and at times confronting images of cancer survivors revealing what most keep hidden following treatment: the physical scars that remind them of a grim and painful experience. Through the photographic process, Scar Stories has encouraged these brave individuals to feel differently about their scars. Now, using the book, the organisation aims to share their scar stories to greater public in order to raise awareness about the unique needs of young adult cancer patients.
I am noticing the black and white pattern with photographs are imperfections. I find this beautiful but it also make me feel sad. I would like to look at one of these pictures and feel happy for that person. I would like my subjects to be happy and colorful.
